Chief Executive Dr Astrid Bonfield CBE Speaks at CHOGM Business Forum
At the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), the Chief Executive of The Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust – Dr Astrid Bonfield CBE – gave a presentation on philanthropic partnerships to the Business Forum
The Forum is the major business event in the Commonwealth calendar, bringing together Heads of Government, Ministers and top business leaders from around the world. More than a thousand delegates attend.
In the presentation, Dr Astrid Bonfield reflected on the Trust’s own partnership with Standard Chartered and commented on the value of corporate philanthropy partnerships,
The Trust could not do this alone. Its success would depend upon the quality of the partnerships it was able to form with others. Partnerships that were strong because they were founded on shared objectives and were mutually beneficial. This included corporate partners who shared the Trust’s objectives. They bring welcome financial resources of course. But equally importantly, other assets. Established programmes and relationships. Networks and reach that complement the Trust’s own, with potential for greater influence, visibility and engagement, and attracting the attention and interest of a broader range of opinion formers and decision makers.
Standard Chartered is the Trust’s largest corporate partner and has brought all of these assets to the partnership. Together we aim to achieve more than either could alone. Such is the power of collaboration in an effective philanthropic partnership
